Today marks the third calendar year since the tragic accident that claimed the boys in red and Beth Lord.

A heartfelt vigil was held yesterday at the crash site where the memorial now stands at the side of the road on highway 8.

With friends and loved ones in attendance, candles were lit and flowers laid, as the city continues to recover in the aftermath, vowing to never forget the boys in red.

With the tragic date in mind, there is news that the construction of a park monument for the Boys is expected to begin this spring.

Bathurst Mayor Stephen Brunet, the chairperson for the local committee behind the project, says the city's engineers design features seven marble figures - one for each of the boys

When the project is completed the statues will stand six feet tall - in a circular formation - on King Avenue across from the Canada Post building.
