Midlothian, Virginia: Eleven injured in early morning crash

Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and West Hundred Road shortly before 5 a.m. today.

A 15-passenger van towing a utility trailer was traveling east on West Hundred Road when it entered the intersection and was struck by a Ford F-250 traveling north on Jefferson Davis Highway. Police said the driver of the pickup disregarded the red light and struck the van, causing it to overturn.

Of the 12 people in the van, 11 people, including the driver, were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Police charged the driver of the pickup, Allen Lanier, 50, of the 18900 block of Woodpecker Road in Chesterfield, with reckless driving. Lanier is scheduled to appear in Chesterfield County General District Court on June 21.
